  1. Barbara P. Johnson Says:

    Amy and Craig,
I am so, so sorry to hear that you have lost your twins. You are probably asking God “Why?” I know because I asked Him “why?” many times between Nov. 12, 1988 and Jan. 2, 1989-the weeks when we lost our first two children. Skip was born with multiple defects and died after heart surgery at Duke at age 7 1/2 months. I had the “empty arms syndrome” terribly so I got pregnant before Christmas. A month into the pregnancy, I had a miscarriage. I was 33 when we had Skip so my time clock was ticking. I really didn’t want to wait very long to get pregnant again, but I took the doctor’s advice and waited 4 months. In May, I got pregnant and had our David on Feb. 6, 1990 at my age of 35. He came into the world at 10 lbs. and almost 2 feet long. On his second birthday, we brought home his sister, Stephanie, who was born when I was 37 yrs. old, and she weighed 9 lbs. 15 oz. Here I am at age 55 with two teenagers! I am telling you this because I remember feeling back in 1989 as if life would never continue for me without my babies. With loving support from church friends, family, and a support group (like Compassionate Friends), I not only survived but have been able to help so many others who have shared their greatest loss-a child or children.
Rod Cooper is a church friend of mine and when he told me that he had received a call at church about your losing your twins, I was so sad for both of you. I promise you that the time will come when this great loss will ease up for you. You have survived so many challenges with Warren, and you will survive this great loss too. Through all of these terrible challenges in your life, you will learn more about yourself than you knew was even possible.
We will continue our prayers and support for you and your family. May the Lord bring comfort to you through the coming days, weeks, and years.
Warren is so cute in his picture on your website!

  2. Sarah Conyer Says:

My thoughts and heart are with all of you and will be especially on Friday. I can’t imagine a more helpful or hopeful response than the one Barbara left you above. My love and prayers are with you! Sarah

  3. Michele Moore Says:

    Amy,

I prayed the right words would come to let Craig and you know how much my love and prayers are with all of you. I have to agree with Sarah, Barbara’s words are a blessing from the Lord. I can’t even begin to imagine the questions you have or the feelings you are feeling. It is hard for me to even understand. My heart knows the Lord is going to help you through. I have yet to met someone as exceptional as you. If you need someone to talk with or anything I am here. Always our prayers and hearts are with you, Craig, and Warren. May the Lord keep each of you in his loving care.
    Phil, Michele, Logan, and Madison

  4. Sandy Linder Says:

Dearest Friends, I can barely write this note this afternoon. Dick called me from work today to let me know of your tragic news. Our hearts ache for you. as we also ask why. I pray that our Heavenly Father will hold you all close in His loving arms and eventually bring comfort to you.

We will be away until late on Sunday or we would be at the babies funeral. Please know we’ll be thinking of you and your family at this sad time. God bless you all. Sandy
